Research Update: Tracing Sephardic Migration Through Genetic Data
New findings from our Sephardic Diaspora Project reveal previously unknown migration patterns. Our ongoing Sephardic Diaspora Project has yielded exciting new data on the migration patterns of Sephardic Jews following their expulsion from Spain and Portugal. Genetic analysis reveals surprising connections between communities in North Africa, the Ottoman Empire, and the Americas.

New Genetic Markers Discovered in Yemenite Jewish Population
Our research team has identified several previously unknown genetic markers specific to the Yemenite Jewish community. These findings provide new insights into the historical migration patterns and genetic isolation of this unique community. The markers, which appear to date back approximately 2,000 years, may help establish connections with other Jewish populations across the Middle East.
High-Leverage Kits

We identify individuals whose upgraded Y-DNA or mtDNA sequencing would significantly refine Jewish phylogenetic trees. By helping them complete full-sequence tests, we enhance lineage resolution across diverse Jewish communities.
North African Jews

We are actively studying the genetic history of North African Jewish communities—especially Moroccan Jews and their connections to Sepharad. Families from Algeria, Tunisia, and Libya are also part of this growing research effort.
Mizrahi Jews

We prioritize testing among underrepresented Middle Eastern Jewish communities, including Mountain Jews, Bukharian, Georgian, Persian, and Iraqi Jews. Our goal is to better understand their population histories and uncover long-lost connections.
